The Weeds

What if the struggles and hardships woven into our lives are not accidents but rather part of a deeper story God is telling? This message draws us into the Parable of the Weeds from Matthew 13, where an enemy secretly sows harmful seeds among good wheat while everyone sleeps. The striking truth here is that the farmer does not panic, does not demand the weeds be ripped out immediately, and does not abandon the field. Instead, he counsels patience, wisdom, and trust in the timing of the harvest. We are challenged to recognize that our lives are that field, and that the enemy has likely sown seeds of hurt, betrayal, abuse, and doubt alongside the good purposes God planted in us long before we were even aware. The profound spiritual insight is this: the root systems of the wheat and the weeds are so intertwined that a frantic, fearful response to our problems can actually damage the very harvest God intends to bring forth in us. When we spend all our energy focused on what the enemy has done, we risk neglecting what God is doing. This message calls us to shift our gaze from the weeds to the wheat, from the wounds to the harvest, and to trust that God's timing is not slow but perfect.
