Jotham's Journey Day 23
We find ourselves in a powerful story that reveals how God meets us in the most unexpected and humble places. Through Jotham's journey to Bethlehem, we're reminded that divine purpose often unfolds in the midst of ordinary, unglamorous work. As Jotham cleans out a stable and tends to animals, we see a beautiful foreshadowing of where the Savior Himself would enter the world—not in a palace or temple, but in that very same kind of humble space. Luke 2:7 reminds us that Jesus was placed in a manger, a feeding trough, because there was no room elsewhere. This isn't just historical detail; it's a profound spiritual truth. God doesn't wait for perfect conditions or impressive circumstances to work. He shows up in our daily routines, our mundane tasks, our moments of service that seem small and unnoticed. Colossians 3:23 challenges us to work heartily as unto the Lord, recognizing that when God is present, even cleaning a stable becomes sacred. We're also confronted with the reality of evil masquerading as kindness, as Jotham nearly falls into a trap set by the milk-white tax collector. This teaches us discernment—that not every smile is genuine, and we must rely on the Holy Spirit to recognize truth from deception. As we journey toward Christmas, we're invited to look for God in the stable places of our own lives, trusting that He is at work even when circumstances seem ordinary or difficult.
