The Stage is Set

Mar 8, 2026    Pastor Tim Scarbrough

This powerful message invites us to consider what legacy we're leaving behind through our faith journey. At the heart of this teaching is the profound encounter between Jesus and the Samaritan woman at Jacob's well in John 4, where Christ reveals himself as the Messiah and introduces the concept of living water. We're challenged to understand that true success in God's kingdom isn't measured by worldly standards like wealth, status, or possessions, but by the spiritual fruit we bear and the lives we impact for eternity. The imagery of Jacob's well, dug over 2,000 years before Jesus sat beside it, reminds us that we often benefit from wells we didn't dig ourselves. Similarly, the blood and water that flowed from Christ's pierced side at Calvary opened a fountain that continues flowing today, offering cleansing and life to all who believe. This message asks us to examine what we're setting in motion for future generations. Are we merely consuming the blessings others have prepared, or are we actively digging wells, loosening jars, and creating opportunities for those who come after us? The call is clear: we must allow ourselves to be eclipsed by Jesus, letting His light shine through us rather than building our own kingdoms. Whether through crisis centers that preserve life, thrift stores that meet physical and spiritual needs, or church buildings that serve as tools for transformation, we're reminded that our faithfulness today plants seeds that may bloom long after we're gone.
