Healing in the Word
This powerful message challenges us to reconsider the relationship between sin, sickness, and God's healing power. Drawing from the story of the paralyzed man lowered through the roof in Capernaum, we discover that Jesus addresses both spiritual and physical needs, but not always in the way religious tradition suggests. The Pharisees believed sickness was always punishment for sin, yet Jesus corrects this mindset in John 9 when His disciples ask about the blind man. His answer is revolutionary: neither the man nor his parents sinned to cause his blindness, but rather this happened so God's glory could be displayed. This liberates us from the crushing weight of assuming our illnesses are divine punishment. The word of God is presented as life and health to our bodies, positioned even above God's own name in importance. We're reminded that faith, not perfection, is the currency of heaven. When we come for healing, we don't need to search our hearts for hidden sins that might be blocking our miracle. Instead, we need to stand on the promises of Scripture with childlike faith. The message calls us to stop judging ourselves and others, to reject the lie that God is withholding healing because we've failed somehow, and to simply believe that our merciful Father desires to touch us right now.
