Why Make Them Wait?
This message confronts us with an uncomfortable truth: while we celebrate our own salvation, hundreds of thousands around us are spiritually dying, and we're making them wait. Drawing from the Great Commission in Matthew 28 and the urgent words of Revelation 22—'Behold, I come quickly'—we're challenged to become spiritual first responders. Just as emergency medical personnel assess, stabilize, and transport patients to proper care, we're called to reach the lost, introduce them to Jesus, and bring them into the church where discipleship can take root. The statistics are sobering: in Montgomery County alone, over 275,000 people claim no religious affiliation whatsoever. Yet research shows that 67% of people would attend church if invited by family, and 63% would come if invited by friends. We possess the cure for spiritual death, but we've become like a country with socialized medicine—making people wait indefinitely for life-saving treatment that's readily available. The message asks a piercing question: do we truly believe in what we're selling? A judge once ruled that a pornography business believed more in the church's prayers against them than the church believed in their own prayers. Romans 10 reminds us that faith comes by hearing, but how can they hear without someone preaching? We're called to stop complicating the gospel, develop an 'elevator testimony' we can share in under a minute, and actively invite our families, friends, and neighbors into God's family before time runs out.
