Rivers in the Desert

Oct 19, 2025    Pastor Tim Scarbrough

Are we truly aware of God's presence in our lives? This powerful message challenges us to look beyond the familiar and expect God to do a new thing. Drawing from Isaiah 43, we're reminded that God is always at work, making rivers in the desert of our spiritual lives. Just as we experience physical thirst after a feast, our souls long for the living water only Christ can provide. The imagery of rivers flowing from our innermost being, as described in John 7, paints a vivid picture of the Holy Spirit's work within us. This isn't about sporadic spiritual experiences, but a continuous flow of God's presence. We're encouraged to forget former things, not to dismiss God's past works, but to open ourselves to His fresh move today. Are we ready to unclog the wells of our hearts, removing doubt, fear, and complacency, to allow God's Spirit to flow freely? This message invites us to drink deeply from God's presence, moving beyond mere attendance to true intimacy with Him.
